About Me
I was born in Colorado and raised in Chandler, Arizona before getting my BAs in Creative Writing and Anthropology from the University of Colorado (2015), my MFA in Fiction from New York University (2018), and both a Graduate Certificate in Educating Multilingual Learners and an MA in English Studies from Arizona State University (2021 & 2022, respectively). Since moving to British Columbia, I have written a novel, a novella, and several shorter works with the intention of finding a publishing home for all of them. I am currently drafting my second novel.
As a bisexual recovering alcoholic, my areas of interest in fiction are sexuality & gender identity & expression, addiction & recovery, family narratives, and sexual & intergenerational trauma.
Currently I am employed at KEY Education, a Vancouver-based admissions guidance and learning enrichment company. In my role as Writing Coach, I guide rising high school seniors in the university application writing process, particularly for schools in the US, Canada, and the UK, but also elsewhere abroad. I advise students on idea generation, planning, drafting, and revision. I also recently acquired a fiction editor position at MAYDAY and take on freelance editing projects on occasion.
My previous professional experiences include various editing positions, as well as intern roles in the literary industry and an adjunct instructorship at New York University.
